Questions related to the contruction of swimming pools

1. What types of swimming pools exist?

According to the overflowing system, pools are divided into pools with skimmers and swimming pool with overflow channel. According to the method or material of construction, swimming pools are divided into prefabricated, liner, polyester, steel and concrete pools. Because of the longevity, aesthetics, characteristic of our climate and the best ratio of price and quality, company Bazeni Plus Ltd. almost exclusively makes concrete pools lined with glass mosaic, which is by far the most dominant way to build a pool in Dalmatia.

2. How much time is required for the construction of the concrete pool?

From the moment of the agreement on the construction of the pool to the final works and commissioning, there must be a minimum of 45-60 days in order to have high quality project implementation taking into account the particular minimum periods of drying of concrete, hydro insulation and smoothing materials. If you are planning to put into the drive the swimming pool with the first warm days in June, it would be optimal to complete negotiations with the pool company early as December or January and begin the excavation and early construction stages.

3. Which actions are included in the project of the pool construction?

Starts with creating of draft project according to which the construction works and installation of equipment are carried out. The work is followed by excavating, constructing of the pool shell and the engine, setting the border stone, hydro insulation and setting the mosaic. Along with all these works the installation of pool equipment and at the end the assembly of the engine are carried out.

4. What resources are necessary to build a pool?

For the construction of the swimming pool is necessary to dispose with the adequate area for the desired dimension of the pool (for swimming pools up to 24m ² of floor area is not necessary to have building license), with water supply and the electricity.

5. Which equipment/producers to choose?

Taking into account that the construction of the pool is a long-term investment, it is not advisable to take the price as the sole criterion when choosing pool equipment. Quality equipment (primarily German production) will be well worthwhile, because the subsequent reconstruction and repairs can double or triple the costs, and initial cost savings on cheaper equipment is insignificant.

6. What is included in the basic swimming pool equipment?

Basic equipment includes a filter, circulation pump, replenish water skimmer (for overflow basins where skimmers are replaced with overflow canal and compensatory tank, a device for controlling the water level), floor drain, nozzles, piping distribution, electro material and set for cleaning.

7. What is included in the additional pool equipment?

Additional equipment includes a swimming pool lights, automatic control and dosing, the effects of (counter-current swimming, massage, waterfall, geyser, mushrooms and blowers), stainless steel equipment (scales, showers, handrails), covers (both manual and automatic), pool heating (heat exchangers, electric heaters, heat pumps) and cleaning robots.

8. Which additional equipment should be installed in the construction phase and which can be further installed?

Except the effects (counter-current swimming, massage, waterfall, geyser, mushroom and blower), where part of the installation should be installed into the walls, all other additional equipment can be retrofitted with minimal or no modifications.

Questions for swimming pool maintenance

1. What is recommended during spring commissioning of the pool?

It is recommended to release the pool put in the drive as early as possible in the spring, so that the system starts functioning and that there is enough time to replace or repair worn-out equipment before the swimming season. It is necessary to perform a detailed review and service of the pool installations and equipment, and thoroughly clean the swimming pool shell.

2. What is recommended in maintenance during the swimming season?

The main recommendation during swimming season is a constant chemical treatment of water, regular cleaning (suction) and regular wash basin (backwash) of filters. When noticing any irregularities (especially in the segment of chemical treatment and water quality parameter values ) in the work of devices please contact and consult service.

3. What is recommended after the swimming season?

After the season of using swimming pool and if the pool is not in use all year round (indoor heated swimming pools or functioning of outside pools for aesthetic reasons during the year), it is advisable to prepare the pool for the winter period ( so-called preserving of the pool). Preparing the pool for the winter involves disassembly of electronic and electrical devices from the engine room and winter pool cover.

4. What are the basic parameters and tools for treating swimming pool water?

Chlorine disinfection and maintenance of optimal pH value are the constant measures of chemical treatment of water in the pool, while others are occasional (if needed).

5. DISINFECTION

CHLORINE GRANULES (powder disinfectant with 60% active chlorine). It is used for shock chlorination and regular chlorination of water in the swimming pool, hydro massage tubs and fountains. They contain chlorine stabilizer making it suitable for chlorination of water in the outdoor pool during the hot sunny days.
CHLORINE TABLETS (disinfectant with 90% of active chlorine in the tablet form of 200 g). They are used for regular chlorination in swimming pools, hydro massage tubs and fountains. They contain chlorine stabilizer making them suitable for chlorination of water in the outdoor pools during hot sunny days. Slowly dissolve in water.
SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE (is a liquid disinfectant with 15% of the active chlorine). It is used for shock chlorination and regular chlorination of water in the swimming pool, hydro massage tubs and fountains. Because of the liquid formulation is suitable for automatic dosing.

6. PH VALUES CORRECTION

pH minus (liquid tool for reducing the water pH value). It is used to reduce the pH of pool water from the alkaline (above pH 8) to the optimal range (pH 7.2 to 7.6). It is suitable for automatic dosing. Besides the decrease in pH, it also affects on the water softening, and prevents the separation of scale on pool surfaces and equipment.
pH minus granulate (powder tool for reducing the water pH value). It is used to reduce the pH of pool water from alkaline (above pH 8) to the optimal range (pH 7.2 to 7.6). It is suitable for manual dosing. Besides the decrease in pH, it also affects on the water softening, and prevents the separation of scale on pool surfaces and equipment.
pH plus (liquid tool for increasing the water pH value). It is used to increase the pH of pool water from acidic (below pH 7.6) to the optimal range (pH 7.2 to 7.6). It is suitable for automatic dosing. Apart from increasing the pH values, it also prevents the corrosion of metals, protects cooper parts from corrosion, and impacts on increasing the alkalinity of water.

THE REMOVAL OF SEAWEED

Algicide (is a anti-foaming liquid tool that destroys and prevents formation of seaweed). Because of its anti-foaming features, it is suitable for the destruction of seaweed in swimming pools that have additional water circulation, hydro massage baths and fountains. Algicide destroys all types of seaweed, but also effects on certain types of bacteria.

SEDIMENTATION

Flocculant (is a liquid tool for sedimentation in the pools). Efficient in a wide pH range and temperature range. Has a positive effect on the improvement of water disinfection. From the water removes phosphates, nitrites, ammonia, iron and manganese.

STABILIZATION

Stabilizer (is a powdered stabilizing tool for chlorine in water). It stabilizes free chlorine from the devastating effects of UV rays at increased water temperatures above 25 °C. Stabilizer also reduces the need for increased consumption of chlorine. Especially is important in outdoor pools during hot sunny days where is for disinfection used unstabilized form of chlorine, such as sodium hypochlorite.

WINTERING OF POOLS

Wintertreat (is a liquid tool to conserve water in the pool during the winter). It prevents the formation of seaweed in the pool and the separation of scale on walls of the pool during the winter inactivity of the pool. Also maintains biological purity of the water during the winter period.
